GREAT BRITAIN won Friday night’s World Cup semi-final to cruise through to the final in Warsaw in August.
Big guns Robert Lambert (14) and Dan Bewley (13) piled up 27 points between them in Landshut to spearhead the British charge to victory. The Lions finished nine points clear of the Czech Republic, who sneaked the runners-up position on countback ahead of hosts Germany, with Ukraine finishing fourth. Team manager Olly Allen said afterwards: “We came here to qualify. It’s so easy for people to call us favourites and say, ‘you should do it easily’ but the boys still had to perform and do what they are capable of. “I am really pleased with the team. They made my job really easy. I say it every year, I am really lucky to be the team manager at a time when I have a team like this. I am grateful.”
