ROBERT Lambert is only eight points off the World Championship lead after winning Saturday night's SGP in Lodz.
The British star defeated Patryk Dudek, Brady Kurtz and Michael Jepsen Jensen in the final to post his first GP win since September, 2024 at Vojens. With defending World Champion Bartosz Zmarzlik falling short of the final, ending his streak of 14 consecutive appearances in the last race of the night, Lambert's 20-point haul improved his seasonal total to 101 while Kurtz and Zmarzlik are now level at the top of the standings on 109. “It has been a long time coming,” said Lambert afterwards. “The win feels like the first win – it has been such a long time since the one in Vojens. “After last season, the goal was set to get into the top seven, secure my spot and not put myself under too much pressure. I am in a good position now, so the goal has changed a little bit, and I am pushing for a medal. We’ll see what colour that will be at the end of the season.” Meanwhile, Denmark's Mikkel Andersen won Friday night's SGP2 event and now holds a 10-point lead ahead of the final round in Denmark on September 11.
