ADAM Ellis (pictured) and Mitch McDiarmid will make their debuts for Premiership Northampton in Thursday's match at Ipswich.
The Foxes have made a move for the pair after releasing Matej Zagar and Troy Batchelor. Former British Champion Ellis has been out of British league racing so far this season after winning the top-flight title with Ipswich last season, while Australian McDiarmid steps up into the Premiership for the first time alongside his second-tier duties with Oxford. Northampton co-promoter Paul Hunsdon said: “We talked with Matej after the Sheffield meeting last week and reached a mutual agreement for him to stand down with immediate effect. “We’ve been in contact with Adam for some time. He’s a tried and tested rider who has been looking to return to the Premiership, and we’re pleased to be able to make it happen. “The reason we’re replacing Troy is because we have an opportunity to give Premiership experience to Mitch, who is highly recommended by Tai Woffinden and we all feel this is the right time to take that course of action. “With six matches remaining this year, this is a chance for us to look to the future, and we want to do that with riders who are fully committed to Northampton Speedway.”
