GREAT Britain will still be targeting a medal in this weekend's Speedway World Cup Final, according to manager Olly Allen, despite losing two of their biggest stars. The injured Dan Bewley and the retired Tai Woffinden have been removed from Allen's team building permutations but the ever-positive Lions boss reveals in this week's magazine: "If any nation in the World Cup lost two of their top three, they are going to struggle. If Australia lost both Jack Holder and Brady Kurtz, or Denmark lose Leon Madsen and Michael Jepsen Jensen, they would struggle and that’s what I'm faced with. The five we have can go into the final with no expectations and just upset the formbook, upset the world rankings. There's a lot less pressure on them."

RED HOT favourite Robert Lambert went through the card to win his third British Final in Manchester on Saturday night – and now looks forward to leading Great Britain in the forthcoming World Cup Final in Warsaw. In this week's magazine, he reveals: "I had to be focused, deal with every race and it all went to plan. Sometimes having first pick in the final is dangerous! It's hard to know what to do – a couple of the gates were working well early on, then gate two came good later on. I had to go for it and I backed myself to be able to do it. But the others are all gunning for that first spot and I can make mistakes with bike set-up, so it can be more difficult to come to a meeting like this than probably being in the Grand Prix sometimes because of that kind of pressure. It makes me stronger and being in that kind of environment helps for the massive meetings like the World Cup coming up..."

BRITISH speedway will return to free-to-air national television for the first time since the 1980s on Saturday.
Premiership CEO Phil Morris has confirmed that a deal has been struck to show the British Final live on ITV4. In this week's magazine, Morris declares: "This is one of the best news stories we have had in a long time and we need the fans to get behind this. If you are at home this Saturday, switch your TV on to ITV4. If your auntie used to watch speedway, get her to tune in. Get your brothers, your sisters and all the family to watch. Encourage them to give us a bit of time and watch the show. It will make a difference for us. This could be the turning point that puts us in a better direction. It’s really great news for British speedway. There have been some tough times, as everybody knows, but to be linked with ITV going forward could be massive for the sport."

FORGET the Zmarzlik v Kurtz head-to-head for this year's World title – it's now a three-horse race for gold after Britain's Robert Lambert muscled his way into serious contention with victory in Lodz. After taking out the round seven final for the second GP win of his career, Lambert has closed to within eight points of the top two who are now tied for the lead – and has the sport's ultimate prize in his sights. "If I'm in finals, I know I’m going to be up there on the leaderboard," he said. "The win wasn’t on my mind at all. It's nice to get it ticked off, though, and add my name to the list of winners for this year. I was nice and relaxed and doing my thing. I knew if I made a good start, focused on that and made the right decision on the first lap, I could get in front. I'm happy with how we figured things out and the team is working. That's how we got through the meeting. I was in a good position before Terenzano and that took the pressure off the Challenge. If we got it, we got it, if not, then no worries – I knew we still had four GPs to go. Securing qualification in Terenzano has taken the pressure off a little bit but it also enables me to push a little bit harder to see what we can achieve."
